Chemistry – Practice, Practice, Practice – naming compounds.  On Monday we will make a flow chart in order to help organize the different ways of naming molecular formulas and formula units.  We will then review using the interactive CD and finish with group (2s) naming compounds.  You will also have a quiz on the rest of the polyatomics on Wednesday.

Crazy Week November 3-7

Students, this is a short week due to conferences and other activities like the Veterans day assemble.  I will be gone to training on Wednesday, Thursday is a half day and no school on Friday YEAH!

Biology – quick review of demos we completed on Friday and then we will move forward on section 3.2

Chemistry – Remember you have a quiz on the “Metals with more than one charge” chart on the back side of your periodic table, the quiz is on Tuesday.

October 29th

Biology – Please finish your pictures and definitions for section 6.1.  On Friday we will do a few demonstrations with Dry Ice (Carbon dioxide), which should prove to be fun.  Remember you can retake the last test if you would like to improve your grade!!!!  Also you can get extra credit points for viewing you grades using your Skyward access.  Just print the grades off and have your parents sign them.

Chemistry – Tomorrow we will go to the computer lab and look up information about sublimation of dry ice.  After looking at different labs we will come up with a Dry Ice lab we can complete on Friday (Halloween).  Remember in order to participate in the Dry Ice lab you must have your safety contract signed and turned in.  You will have a quiz next Tuesday on the metals with more than one charge (chart on back side of periodic table), start studying now!

EXTRA CREDIT

Students you can recieve extra credit point for getting onto Skyward using your password and printing off your grades.  Have you parent sign and bring it back on Monday.

October 27th

Biology – Remember you have a make up test Monday the 27th on Chapter 2. We will also be starting our enzyme lab with the potato puree, so dress for a lab – hair back, toes covered.

Hope you all did well on the PSAT!  Tomorrow we will review for the chapter 2 test in Biology and try to start the enzyme lab.

In Chemistry we will do a quick activity on bonding and do a pre-test to see what you know about naming compounds.

Happy Hunting Season

This week of October 13th will be a bit crazy for the biology classes.  We start off Tuesday with the Healthy Youth survey, and Wednesday with the PSAT test, on Thursday we will do a test review and hopefully a lab and then on Friday the Chapter two test.

Happy Homecoming

Have a good weekend and make wise choices.  Monday Biology has a make up quiz on the Metric System and Chemisty needs to complete the “Candium” Lab.

Remember how to use the Metric chart I showed you.  Place your pencil on the starting number (given) and count until you get to the unknown number and move your decimal in the same direction that many places.

Kilo     Hecto     Deka     _____     deci     Centi     Milli
